Billed as the HVAC/R industry's premier showcase, the AHR Expo's popularity reached new heights in 2015. Held in Chicago Jan. 26-28, more than 61,000 people attended – a new record, according to a new release from AHR.
Of those in attendance, more than 42,000 were visitors, which means the buzz around the event permeated into the public and drew a whole new crowd of people. This level of attraction could have been due to the Expo's convenient location in the Midwest in conjunction with a growing demand for energy efficient products and streamlined HVAC services.
To help meet this demand, roughly 2,100 HVAC companies participated in the exhibition, putting their newest and most advanced equipment on display. Showing just how far the industry has come in terms of global appeal, 592 international companies also had booths at the Chicago event.
The goal of the AHR Expo is to combine the greatest talent, expertise and ingenuity of the HVAC/R industry at one location to help fuel innovation and new ideas. In the process, both businesses and visitors alike benefit from seeing the equipment and technology that is necessary for everyday workplace functions.
Changing with the times
Part of the job with any industry is to provide the services that others need to meet new challenges and goals. In the commercial sector, businesses must comply with a series of federal and state energy regulations in regards to the environmental impact of their buildings. As companies move to become more energy efficient, a higher demand is placed upon the performance of HVAC systems to regulate proper energy controls.
The need for more advanced equipment like coated HVAC coils will continue to grow in correlation to the level of commercial activity and construction. As such, the Bureau of Economic Analysis indicated investment in nonresidential structures jumped nearly 2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014, which means new HVAC units will have to be installed into all of these buildings.
To achieve both economic and energy goals, buildings should be fitted with interactive HVAC modules while owners also keep in mind the benefits of long-term coil investment.
