WATER COILS

It is well-known that exposure to water causes metals to rust, break or produce mold and fungi. Since water coils operate by using water to change temperatures, these processes can happen fast leading to lower performance, making maintenance and replacement all the more important.

Chilled Water Coils

As the name implies, chilled water coils are typically used to cool and remove moisture from an environment. The cold water passes through the tubes cooling them and the fins, when hot air passes by the coils surface it is cooled, and then the air handler works to distribute the cold air into the inside environment and to dissipate some of the heated air to the outside.

Systems that use chilled water coils are typically used in industrial and commercial buildings, especially in places with refrigeration systems like supermarkets.

Hot Water Coils

Hot water coils are used to heat outside air before forcing it inside. They are a type of heat exchanger that uses hot water from a boiler. Hot water moves through the tubes cooling heating them and the fins, when the outside air flows through it is heated and pushed inside.

Hot water coils from Rahn Industries are typically built to withstand 300°F temperature and 400 psi of pressure. Coils up to 40ft long are made from seamless copper, and the casing of the coil is made from 16-gauge galvanized steel, making them exceptionally durable and long-lasting.

This type of system is commonly used in commercial and industrial buildings, and also in roof top units.
